Thoughts from the desk of Dr. Redington
In my personal opinion, chiropractic has never been more needed in America than it is today. The word, "DOCTOR" comes from the Latin word meaning: 'to teach'. Therefore, it is up to us to educate the public and especially our patients on what true health really means. Well for starters let's take a look at one more definition, "HEALTH" meaning: “the condition of being sound in body, mind, or spirit; especially: freedom from physical disease or pain.” (“Health” def 1).
As a health care practitioner it is my job to try and allow my patients to achieve this by giving them excellent care and helping educate them on specific needs and desires so that they too can have a better lifestyle, if that is what they choose. One of the HARDEST things to do is to actually change a mindset. I'm speaking personally. We as a modern culture usually don't take enough time for ourselves or each other. We live in a fast-paced society. Too much, "I want it now. Just fix it please. Is this all I
have to do. I'll get to it tomorrow. I've been trying. I just don't have the time right now, and so on". Any more excuses?
Unless we are one of the estimated 20% of the population with a genetic condition or developed condition (even there you can still make some improving changes) we absolutely have no excuse! Think about how you want to live, as opposed to how you do live. Remember, we only get one turn at our physical state here on earth, how do you want to live?
There are lots of unnecessary so called foods, invasive body procedures, chemicals, pollutions, experimenting and whatever else in our current world. Would it honestly be so hard to resort back to a healthy lifestyle at least? I recall as a child reading labels (I know, I was a bit strange) nonetheless, some of the health warning signs were frightening, even for a piece of gum.
We owe it to ourselves living in today's society to educate ourselves and one-another. Many health studies are heavily weighted in the sense of hearing what you, the consumer, want to hear. This is sometimes opposed to what we really need to hear, the truth.
I've said it more than once and I'll say it again, "If it won't mold, you probably shouldn't eat it" "Twinkie's don't grow on trees" "Good health is simple, just drink clean water, eat clean food and exercise (yoga, Pilates, gym, stretch, healing arts)".
Thanks for your attention and time. Now go educate yourself :-)
Chiropractically yours,
Dr. Redington
